Compare
HubSpot's MCP server or Deskhand for an AI agent?
HubSpot publishes an official remote MCP server, so an agent can already read and write a HubSpot account. This page compares that route with Deskhand, a hosted CRM and email desk built to be driven by an agent through its own key. Both are real options; they fit different people.
Side by side
| HubSpot | Deskhand | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the agent connects | A HubSpot account you already run. The page describes a hosted MCP server connected with OAuth 2.0 through a user-level app, and says the account admin must connect first. | MCP over streamable HTTP at /api/mcp and a JSON HTTP API; a bearer key per agent. |
| Whose identity the agent acts as | A user-level app: the connection is made by a user, with read scopes for the CRM objects they choose. | One key per agent, with scopes, a rate limit, a daily send cap and a pause switch. |
| What it can write | Contacts, companies, deals, tickets, products, quotes, invoices, subscriptions and engagements (calls, emails, meetings, notes, tasks), per the page. Users, teams, owners, campaigns and website pages are listed as read-only. | Contacts, companies, deals, tasks, notes, and email threads and drafts. |
| Set-up requirement | The page says the account must be on the new HubSpot Developer Platform. | Hosted. Sign in, get a workspace and a key per agent. |

auto, email, all) plus a per-agent override. - Undo. Revert one change or a whole agent run from Activity. Records edited since are skipped and reported.
- Price. Free during early access: 3 agents, 1,000 records. See pricing.
Choose HubSpot if
You already run your pipeline in HubSpot, your team lives in it, and you want an agent to work inside that account.
Choose Deskhand if
You have no CRM (or only a spreadsheet), the agent is the main user, and you want a separate key per agent, a pause switch, an audit log you can undo from and no OAuth app to set up. Contacts can be imported from a HubSpot CSV: import guide.
What to know
The HubSpot page words read-only and write access differently in different places; check the current page before relying on either.
